Military Afloat Reach and Sustainability (MARS) Fleet Solid Support (FSS) Industry Day – 26 September 2017 – Bristol

The Ministry of Defence (MOD), Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), Commercially Supported Shipping (CSS) team are considering options to optimise the delivery of up to three Military Afloat Reach and Sustainability (MARS) Fleet Solid Support (FSS) Sea Going Vessels. These vessels will have the capability to provide the solid sustainment (food, stores and ammunition) required for Maritime Task Groups and Joint Forces. This will allow the UK to achieve full use of the new Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers. CSS is issuing a Prior Information Notice (PIN), as well as inviting representation from the Ship Design and Ship Build industry sectors to engage with MOD DE&S to inform the feasibility of the acquisition options that are currently being considered.

DE&S will issue an Overview Pack to all respondents to the PIN which will set out the Market Engagement process. This Market Engagement process will involve an initial Industry Day with bilateral meetings to be held at a later date with potential prime contractors who have been invited to participate further (see Overview Pack for further Information).

The Industry Day will take place on 26 September 2017 in Bristol, United Kingdom.

In issuing the PIN and engaging with the market, DE&S is not committing to carry out any procurement exercises in relation to any or all of the requirements stated in the PIN. Equally non-participation in this Market Engagement will not be taken into account in any future procurement activities and will not preclude any organisation from submitting a tender in any future competitions.

Any organisation wishing to participate in this Market Engagement should respond to DE&S via the following contact email: by 1 September 2017. Please allow up to five days for any Authority response.

Organisations attending will be limited to a maximum of three representatives. Due to the number of places available being limited, we may be required to reduce representation numbers per organisation if necessary. (Please note we require responses to the PIN through your company email address only. Responses via personal email addresses will not be accepted.)

Please provide a designated point of contact for your organisation. An Industry Day timetable of events will be issued via the contact point for invited attendees closer to the day.
